[Cartoon] What's That Smell, Boss !!!

My roommate Mr. X used to smell so bad. The foul smell was so disgusting and was really a nightmare for those who smell it. The problem is that he was a sensitive guy and i don't want to hurt his feelings. I really didn't know how to say it on his face. But it was really hard to sleep with that chillingly nauseating nasty odor.

One day he got a call letter for an interview from a Bangalore based company. He went to Bangalore two days before the interview. I was alone in the room and trying to think of some way of getting rid of his nasty body order. I wanted to ask him " what's that smell, boss" but i did not want sound rude. suddenly an idea flashed across my mind. I quickly took my drawing book and drew a cartoon.

Medium : Water Colour & Pen
Time : 20 minutes
Date : 10-04-2014

I share this cartoon with him using WatsApp. Our conversation will tell you the remaining story.

So he takes shower everyday and still smell bad. I just googled it for a solution and discovered that the bacteria that grow naturally on our skin mix with sweat results in body odor. A morning hot water bath will really help to get rid of nasty body smell. Also searched for a water heater for suggesting him. Found that Racold Pronto instant water heaters will be very effective.

Also made another carton :

After Few Days ........

Parassinikadavu Muthappan Temple

Medium : Pencil on Paper (A4)
Date : 17-04-2013
Time : About 3 hours

[ From Wikipedia ]
Parassinikadavu Muthappan temple is a Hindu temple, located on the banks of the Valarpattanam river about 10 km from Taliparamba in Kannur District, Kerala. Principal deity of the temple is Sree Muthappan, a manifestation of two mythical characters called Thiruvappana and Vellattam. According to the local tradition, Thiruvappana and Vellattam are the characterization of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva, two among the Trimurtis in Hinduism, respectively.

Rituals of the temple is unique in that it does not follow the Satvic Brahminical form of worship, as in other Hindu temples of Kerala. The main mode of worship is the a ritual enactment of both the characters of Muthappan, through a traditional dance known as Muthappan Theyyam. Fish, meat and toddy are the customary offerings to Muthappan. Muthappan Thiruvoppana Mahothsavam is the major festival of the temple, celebrated for three days every year on 19, 20 and 21 of Kumbham (the days correspond to 3, 4 and 5 March).

Also posting an old spray painting of this temple ( Using a tooth brush, comb and water colour) made in 2007.

Medium : Water colour using tooth brush and comb

You can read more about this temple, story behind Muthappan, etc from these links (Wikipedia) :

The temple is also a popular destination for travellers and pilgrims to savour the charm of Theyyam, a ritual that is performed here on a daily basis. Men adorning masks and costumes with a riot of colours perform this temple art form and it represents conflict between good and evil, with good ultimately emerging victorious.

Happy Vishu

Medium : Coloured pencil & pen, Time : about 15 mins

Wishing all my friends and readers a very happy and prosperous Vishu. Vishu is a Hindu festival celebrated in the Indian state of Kerala and in the Mangalore and Udupi districts of Karnataka. It is the New Year festival of Malayalis.

Medium : Coloured pencil & Photoshop
The most important event in Vishu is the Vishukkani, which literally means " the first thing seen on the day of Vishu after waking up". The Vishukkani consists of a ritual arrangement of auspicious articles like raw rice, fresh lemon, golden cucumber, betel leaves, arecanut, metal mirror, yellow flowers konna (Cassia fistula), and a holy text and coins, in a bell metal vessel called uruli in the puja room of the house. A lighted bell metal lamp called nilavilakku is also placed alongside. This is arranged the night before. On Vishu, the custom is to wake up at dawn and go to the puja room with eyes closed so that the Vishukkani is the first sight of the new season.

"Vishu" is celebrated with much fanfare and vigour in all parts of Kerala. Setting off firecrackers is part of the celebration, especially for children. People wear new clothes (Puthukodi) for the occasion and elders of the family gift money, called Vishukkaineetam, to children, servants and tenants.

Wishing all my dear friends a New year, bursting with joy, roaring with laughter and full of fun.....

HAPPY VISHU
